Weekends in KC: October 10-12
It’s the weekend, so check out some of the following events happening in Kansas City.
Waterfire Kansas City: Head down to Brush Creek in the Plaza this weekend for Barnaby Evan’s iconic WaterFire art installation. This annual celebration of the arts will feature over a hundred performing artists and food from the Plaza’s top restaurants. Visit www.waterfirekc.com for a complete schedule of events.
Kansas City Renaissance Festival: This weekend at the Renfest celebrates Oktoberfest. Partake in craft beer tastings or participate in a Knackwurst eating contest. Take the kids for some early trick-or-treating. Show off your strength in an arm wrestling competition. Shop the Farmer’s Market for fall harvest goodies. Sprint Family Fun Days Fall Festival: Bring the kids down to the Power & Light District on Saturday Oct. 11th from 11am- 3pm for some fall fun. This month Sprint Family Fun Days will have pony rides, a haybale maze, a mechanical bull, puppet show, trick or treating and more. Hoots & Howls: Another event for the kids, the Kansas City Zoo has some Halloween fun this October 11th and 12th. The Hoots & Howls event will host hayrides, pedal tractors, chalk art, face painting, a hay bale maze, the Slitherin Snake Shed, a Monster Mash Bash, crafts and spooky story time. Fall Zombie Walk for Hunger: Get in the Halloween spirit and support a good cause at the same time this weekend at the Zombie Walk for Hunger. The walk is part hunger drive and part party. To register, bring a donation of 5 non-perishable food items per person. The walk starts at the Bloch Cancer Survivor Park on the west side of the Country Club Plaza.
